Sync Forward returns to unveil the new joint collaboration between label regulars Fredy & D’Joseph, now under the name of “Monotronik” and their stunning debut EP “Shards”.
The opening track, is a refined and fluid organic house composition, with rolling pacey drums, grooving bassline and intricate melodic synthesizing techniques. Steering away from the sound they were most commonly known in their previous project, Shards shows a more serious approach by the already respected Portuguese duo.
The other side “Broken Chords” is like stepping into an hypnotic electronic immersing experience, rippling with pulsating sonic textures, clearly inspired by their love for classic house jams, with trademark progressive synths, live instrumentation and vocal snippets, this one definitely has a slightly tougher edge and darker atmosphere than previous one.
The last original track is “The Way”.
With complex layers over a mystical dark and mysterious vibe, it combines the best of minimal with slowing emerging melodies, twisted percussion, building with intensity and featuring haunting vocals. Not suited for listeners with cardiac problems.
Last but not least is the remix of “Shards”, by the label’s techno specialists Remotion.
Both acclaimed before for their refined taste and remixing technics, they surely do not disappoint.
Staying true to the original, the duo set in a freshly crafter groove, incorporating infectious distorted reeces, heavy footed drums and complex synth work.
A heavy trip to the depths of the night complementing this release perfectly.
